Happy Mother’s Day Gifts: My Gimme Gimme List

With Mother's Day quickly approaching, it's time to rack our brains and browse the shelves to find something Mom will really love. For this year's Happy Mother's Day gifts list, I wanted to celebrate the spirit of the holiday by seeking out independent businesses that support women and/or are woman-owned. As a small business owner, lady and Mama, I think it's important to support each other and put your money where your heart is!

Jessica Herrin, mother of two, was co-founder of WeddingChannel.com before launching Stella & Dot, a jewelry and accessories company that aims to create flexible entrepreneurial opportunities for women. This scarlet red Ikat iPhone case ($29) is perfect for any Mama who needs to locate her phone quickly!
 

Moby Wraps is founded by Mama Gillian after her son Nathan was born. MoBy (MOther+BAby) wraps are made in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where the salaried Thai staff enjoy generous wages, bonuses and health care. Most importantly Moby Co. Ltd. provides a friendly and respectful work environment.  These comfortable and versatile baby carriers allow new Mamas to go hands-free and multitask. Plus, there's nothing better than the feel of your little one close to your chest.

Prosperity Candle works with women in and from distressed parts of the world to help them rebuild their lives through the simple craft of candle-making. This includes women in Rwanda, Afghanistan, Ghana, Vietnam and more!   Any of these candles make a great gift for Mothers Day! is one of my favorites off this list. It looks great in the kitchen, patio or garden, and lets Mamas personalize their gift. (My first wish will be for the dishes to wash themselves!)
 

Frolick Jewelry, known for its vintage influences, is handcrafted and made in San Francisco, Calif. All pieces are designed by jewelry designer and small business owner Adrienne Wiley, who left a job at a Fortune 500 company to pursue her true passion. The circles can be representative of mom and child, mom and partner or a pair of siblings.

The Berry Monroe nursing bra ($35) lets new Mamas feel sexy and glamorous after birth...a  feat that's not very easy to accomplish unless you're Beyonce!  

The Spoiled Mama, founded by yours truly, comes from the need to give Mamas and their babes the best of the best. Our formulas are organic and safe enough to pamper a mom while pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum. Our Bump Gloss (starting at $38) is a stretch marks oil that is safe for pregnant or postpartum Mamas to help hydrate the skin and reduce the possibility of stretch marks.
